On Thursday, September 11th, 2014, Greenwald Weiss Attorneys at Law, LLC, a law firm focused on estate planning with offices in Brooklyn, NY and Lakewood, NJ, in conjunction with the Lakewood Courtyard, hosted an event entitled “Essential Planning” at the Lakewood Courtyard.  The objective of the event was to impart upon attendees the importance of estate planning for all individuals and for each participant to glean something new that is relevant to his or her specific life circumstances – that mission was accomplished.

Mr. Baruch Greenwald began with opening remarks and was followed by the first speaker, Mr. William (Bill) Marks, of The Marks Law Firm, P.C., one of the evening’s sponsors.  Mr. Marks spoke about the latest Ghetto pension developments in Germany and explained their importance and ramifications for Holocaust survivors, their spouses and their children.  Mrs. Rizy Horowitz, senior coordinator at Nachas Health and Family Network and an expert in German reparations, spoke briefly about her passion in helping Holocaust survivors receive their reparations and was present to answer questions at the end of the program.

Mr. Baruch Greenwald and Mr. Hillel Weiss, founding members of Greenwald Weiss, provided a basic overview of Estate and Medicaid Planning in a unique and memorable joint presentation modeled after an “attorney-client meeting.”  The presentation also highlighted the Halachic components of the Estate Planning process and was followed by Rabbi Dovid Grossman, Rosh Bais HaVaad in Lakewood, who gave a detailed Halachic perspective on Planning, Gifting and Bequeathing.  Mrs. Mindy Salzberg of Medicaid Solutions, another one of the evening’s sponsors, spoke about New Jersey Medicaid and the intricate eligibility requirements.  Mr. Shimshon Lowy, of Advanced Financial Resources, spoke about understanding long term care insurance.  All of the presenters were available for a Question & Answer session at the conclusion of the evening.

The event was well attended and, at the event’s conclusion, the resounding sentiment expressed by attendees was that “the topics were interesting, the speakers knowledgeable and informative and the food delicious!”
